30. Xtro (1982)

30. Xtro (1982). This is an experimental acid-house film masquerading as a low-budget science fiction-horror movie. It’s gross, ugly, and nihilistic, with all the morally repugnant trappings of 70s/80s grindhouse cinema. It’s also so bizarre anyone with an interest in truly weird and disturbing cinema has got to watch it – preferably with a few friends to echo your constant bafflement and disgust at the body horror and gross practical effects. The director has allegedly said that the film’s bizarre atmosphere is completely unintentional. Judging by the the boring and utterly uncreative sequels, that’s probably true.
